I’m a big fan of Jennifer Aniston and can never fault anything she does and Bruce Almighty is no exception. Both Jennifer and Jim Carrey work so well together and their sex scene together is hilarious.
Any good chick flick has to have a good life lesson and Bruce Almighty certainly delivers that. It makes you think that you should not take anything for granted. It’s a perfect film for snuggling up to on a cold Friday night.
I’ve read this book and I loved it. Now when I say read it I mean cried at it, recommended it to a friend, talked about it and then read it again for luck. Now I’m always skeptical about watching films that have been adapted from books but I’d heard great things about it from friends so I gave it a shot.
The story follows a young couple,Holly (Hilary Swank)and Gerry (Gerard Butler) and tragically Gerry dies suddenly from a brain tumor. In order to help his wife get over his death he writes her several letters telling her how to get over him and move her life on. Each letter sends her on a new venture and that crucial path of self-discovery.
Now I wear my heart on my sleeve and it worried me that the film hadn’t moved me to tears even though it’s such a tragic story. There were a few touching moments but nothing how I imagined. The whole thing just seemed to be lacking something crucial, something that the author Cecelia Ahern just managed to capture. Not even his sexy irish accent could sway me!!
I know I didn’t like this film because it didn’t match my own expectations from the book and the characters were all wrong and the whole thing just was dragged out in the wrong way. I didn’t even make it to the end of the film. Watch only if you’ve got nothing else to do!!
I’d fully recommend the book though and not to be totally cynical check out the film and let me know what you think!!
I hated this film when I first saw it, I just couldn’t get past Mel Gibson’s chauvinistic attitude. But when I was a bit older I was recommended it again and I love it. I adore all the sweet innocent girls that just need some male attention. I think all men need to watch this film and realise that all woman are worthy of attention.
My favourite scene is when his daughter takes her shopping, this is exactly what me and my Dad went through. Only he was much less helpful!
If you haven’t seen this film then you’re missing out. Big Time!! This is such a moving film, so tragic!! You can tell why this was Scarlett Johansson’s big break because she is fantastic and has me in tears several times through out the film.
Check out this trailer and I know you’ll want to see it!!
I think this film was what got me into Chick Flicks. I just can’t put my finger on why I love this movie so much. But I do think its Drew Barrymore’s ‘s amazing transformation that is so magical. You just go to love film with a moral.
This is my favourite chick flick scene of all time. It’s so romantic the way he comes running through the crowd and just kisses her. It’s exactly the way she hoped it would be. Totally perfect!!
‘You’e Got Mail, the 3 most powerful words.’
I don’t there is another onscreen couple that I love more than Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. There is so much tension building up throughout the film, this increase of feelings despite their conflicts. The kiss at the end is the best in any chick flick!!
This is a twenty first century romance.
I first fell in love with Julia Roberts when I saw her in Pretty Woman. I think she’s amazing, there’s just something about her that’s so likeable and her laugh is totally infectious. Even though she makes one hot prostitute you can tell she is destined for something bigger, which she finds in Richard Gere. He’s what me housemate calls ‘quiet beauty’ he doesn’t have to say much to ooze sex appeal. I think he’s perfect in this role but I always wonder what he’s thinking. No matter what’s gone wrong in your life this film is guaranteed to cheer you up.
